This article examines the intersection of humanitarian discourses and security practices at the southern Italian border, focusing on anti-trafficking narratives and their implementation. The analysis reveals how humanitarian concerns become entangled with border control mechanisms, creating new forms of governance that simultaneously protect and exclude.
