Borderland Italia. Regime di frontiera e autonomia delle migrazioni

Authors: Jacopo Anderlini, Davide Filippi, Luca Giliberti

Published in: DeriveApprodi, Roma (2022)

Abstract

In the Europe of the 'reception crisis', this volume analyzes the multiple dimensions that qualify Italy as a borderland, defining the conflictual relationship between the agency of migrant subjectivities in transit between the borders of the European Union, the solidarity networks that support them and the operations for their government. Following a disseminating approach typical of public and participatory sociology, the ethnographies carried out on Italian territories - from Lampedusa to Val di Susa, passing through Rome, Trieste and Ventimiglia among others - allow us to read the social dynamics concerning the construction of citizenship starting from an in-depth analysis of contemporary migratory phenomena and their governance.

Additional Information

Borderland Italia examines Italy as a crucial borderland in the European migration context, analyzing the conflictual relationships between migrant agency, solidarity networks, and governance mechanisms. Through ethnographic research across Italian territories, the volume offers insights into contemporary migration dynamics and citizenship construction.
