This presentation examined the European hotspot system as a liminal space that simultaneously enables and constrains mobility. Drawing on ethnographic research in Italian hotspots, the analysis explored how these facilities function as borderlands where circulation and containment intersect, creating new forms of temporal and spatial governance of migration.
